WALMART stores

ADVOCACY / ORIGINAL CONTENT / SOCIAL MEDIA

Walmart is synonymous with “Big Box”. As Walmart expands their retail formats, though, they’re often significantly smaller. These Neighborhood Markets are designed to exist from the 'burbs to the city, with a perfect mix of groceries and essentials. To reinforce this shift, we were tasked to develop a messaging platform and video spot to help realign the conversation.

To explain this new format, we created the world’s smallest Walmart, complete with everything you’d expect — just 2% the size.

We also created social content and collateral for several hundred Walmart store Facebook pages, emphasizing community improvement and engaging with residents. With smaller format stores, Walmart had the ability to affect more communities by bringing jobs and healthy, affordable food to the neighborhood. Walmart is also shown to increase neighborhood investment. Where Walmart goes, banks, stores and other job and service-providing companies follow.

Our campaign won over both Walmart fans and skeptics, and the Neighborhood Market format continues to thrive. Since our launch Walmart Neighborhood Markets have continued to expand, with 699 currently operating in the US today.
